BASIC FUNCTION:
The Site Coordinator community worker, under the direction of the Program Director and Executive Director is responsible for various sites. The Program Coordinator will implement curriculum. Maintain and supervise staff. Oversee the order and distribution of weekly supplies needed to operate the program. We are looking for someone self-motivated and who takes initiative. An individual accustomed to multi-tasking and meeting multiple tight deadlines. Extremely organized, detail oriented and a fast learner.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Evaluate and make judicious decisions based on efficiency, safety and sensibility. Owns and juggles multiple schedules and different projects. Assists with administrative tasks involved in the various functions of sites Operations. Provides and receives necessary feedback to fine-tune scheduling and delivery process. Disseminates information to the school administration for the purpose of establishing adequate program delivery and establishing positive relationships with school personnel. This position requires a liaison skills in maintaining relationships with the community, with parents, students, and school staff. Coordinates outreach, registration and retention activities. Reviews and oversees program curriculum, while ensuring program follows Padres Unidos standards. Provides leadership and guidance to onsite staff. Works with the team of coordinators and director on the ongoing planning and evaluating of the individualized and group instruction. Performs students entering and exiting evaluations. Meets the public tactfully and courteously. Establishes and maintains cooperative and effective working relationships with the community, parents, leaders and students. Applies the rules and regulations of the Program with good judgment. Creates an interacted relationship with those from the site. Compiles accurate and complete data in an oral and/or written reports. Plans and imparts meaningful instruction and activities to pre-school age pupils. Performs related functions needed to the successful integration of the new skills in to the students’ daily lives and school readiness.
DUTIES:
- With an assessment tool, conduct an assessment of each child’s development and identify goals in conjunction with other facilitators, parents and coordinator/director
- Maintain a holistic approach between class activities, curriculum, and the students daily family life
- Maintain all site program delivery communication
- Carry out weekly phone call reminders for program participants
- Uphold principles of the family parenting program and develop lesson plans and activities corresponding to it with planning team
- Maintain a learning conducive environment in which safety and growth is fostered
- Report any concerns to the site coordinator
- Leave the teaching and preparation room neat and clean, preventing others from using materials and/or equipment not previously authorized
- Make weekly report to discuss student progress and encourage continued attendance
- Meet with the volunteers who teach classes to the family’s older children and parents
- Apply CPR and/or first aid assistance if needed
- Participate in individual or small group planning/evaluating meetings with staff and coordinator
- Prepare materials needed to the successful delivery of lesson plans
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

- Knowledge and ability to deal effectively with children of different maturity levels and needs of 0 to 5 year-old students
- Observe and understand individual, groups, and family needs and dynamics
- Develop lesson plans independently or with other staff

- Perform simple clerical tasks directly related to the delivery of instruction
- Speak fluent Spanish/English desired

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
EDUCATION
Option 1.
- A combination of:
- A completion certification of a Padres Unidos/Healthy Tomorrows parenting program and
- A one year volunteer training program (can be substituted by 5 years or more of a community work supervised experience),
- and a Community Worker paraprofessional two year program award (can be current enrollment).
Option 2.
- A combination of:
- A completion certification of a Padres Unidos/Healthy Tomorrows parenting program and,
- A combination of a one year volunteer training and one year of supervised volunteer work in the community,
- and a Baccalaureate in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology or related fields.
EXPERIENCE
The Site Coordinator is recruited from local areas to ensure that Padres Unidos classes reflect the values, culture, language and strengths of the families served in our community. In addition, knowledge about child abuse, juvenile delinquency, group dynamics, family systems, child development and local resources required. Bilingual/bicultural required with fluency in Spanish. English fluency, if candidate is not an English speaker to maintain employment must provide every month a minimum of four records of completed lessons from www.usalearns.org or get approval for an alternative action plan to learn English and provide proof of completion. Strength in Team work and sound judgment required.
