BASIC FUNCTION:
The Curriculum Support community worker, under the direction of the Program Director and Executive Director responsibility consists of overseeing curriculum implementation and educational materials at various sites. We are looking for someone self-motivated and who takes initiative. An individual comfortable with supporting several aspects of program delivery; and works effectively with educators, administrators, and coordinators. Performs exceptionally under pressure, can multi-task and meet multiple tight deadlines. Extremely organized, detail oriented and a fast learner. Must have extensive knowledge of Early Education.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop lesson plans that comply with curriculum including activities and materials. Make judicious recommendations based on efficiency, safety and sensibility to early childhood educators, site coordinators and Director. Disseminates information between site coordinators and early childhood educators for the purpose of establishing adequate program delivery and positive team efficiency. Works with the team of coordinators and director on the ongoing training, planning and evaluating of the personnel, site needs and groups formation. Provide continuous support of Padres Unidos staff tactfully and courteously; establish and maintain cooperative effective working relationships. Oversee the student evaluations process. Watch over the implementation of the curriculum with good judgment and assist in the control documentation and process at various sites. Generate oral and written reports. Keep inventory of class materials. Administer petty cash.
DUTIES:
- Ongoing observation of curriculum compliance
- Create an individualized site lesson plan binder
- Provide weekly material packages for all sites two weeks in advance for School Readiness and the Early Literacy classes
- Control weekly class unused material
- Provide list and assist in buying class materials for activities
- Work with Director with instructional toys and graphs
- Assist Director in ongoing evaluation of educators performance
- Make recommendations for site efficiency and cultural sensitivity
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
- Sustain positive effective relationships between pupil’s parents, volunteers and staff
- Extensive knowledge and high performance on Excel, Microsoft Word, Power Point and Access, copy machine and other office devices
- Ability to capture information and generate documents on computer
- Ability to multi-task
- Superb knowledge and ability to work with pre-school age children
- Capacity to organize simple and complex tasks concurrently
- High level of oral communication required
- Outstanding ability to support others in tasks related to program delivery
- Observe and understand individual and team needs
- Speak fluent Spanish and English (desired)
- Exceptional ability to communicate and consult recommendations and decisions with Supervisor
- Comply with curriculum time frames, deadlines, Padres Unidos and District rules and regulations
- Foster a caring/supportive work environment

- Capability to safe keep supplies and instruction materials
- Monitor and enrich individual students progress and class trends
- Proactive with learning subjects
- Ability to direct all professional communication through proper channels and direct concerns to the person involved
- Knowledge of CPR and first aid
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
EDUCATION
Option 1.
- A combination of:
- A completion certification of a Padres Unidos/Healthy Tomorrows parenting program and
- A one year volunteer training program (can be substituted by 5 years or more of a community work supervised experience),
- and a Community Worker paraprofessional two year program award (can be current enrollment).
Option 2.
- A combination of:
- A completion certification of a Padres Unidos/Healthy Tomorrows parenting program and,
- A combination of a one year volunteer training and one year of supervised volunteer work in the community,
- and a Baccalaureate in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology or related fields.
EXPERIENCE
The Curriculum Support is recruited from local areas to ensure that Padres Unidos classes reflect the values, culture, language and strengths of the families served in our community. In addition, knowledge about child abuse, juvenile delinquency, group dynamics, family systems, child development and local resources required. Bilingual/bicultural required with fluency in Spanish. English fluency, if candidate is not an English speaker to maintain employment must provide every month a minimum of four records of completed lessons from www.usalearns.org or get approval for an alternative action plan to learn English and provide proof of completion. Strength in Team work and sound judgment required.
